Our season concludes with the transcendent beauty of Fauré’s Requiem Composed in 1888, this Requiem has been a treasured favorite since the mid 20th-century Fauré deliberately chose a new and gentler direction in his Requiem, omitting traditional movements (Dies Irae and Tuba Mirum) that composers such as Brahms and Verdi used as platforms for drama Instead, he added movements of intimacy: the tender Pie Jesu and ethereal Paradisum In so doing, Fauré painted a mood of serenity and consolation: a vision of heaven without the threat of damnation The concert will also feature Herbert Howell’s Hymn for Saint Cecilia (text by Ursula Vaughan Williams) and excerpts from his Requiem, along with Jubilate Deo by Benjamin Britten Susan Consoli, Soprano David McFerrin, Baritone Ross Wood, Organist

The guitar-driven grooves and powerhouse rhythm section of Leroy Justice recall the majestic Led Zeppelin – but it is in their dynamic live performance that this band truly comes to life Formed in early 2006, Township brings a sexy swagger back to rock and roll, the likes not seen since the heyday of 70’s classic rock bands Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, Grand Funk Railroad and Bad Company While some bands put on a vintage t-shirt and think that buys them cred, Township worships at the altar of all who came before them by turning it up, tearing it out and not leaving the stage until the crowd is theirs   This is a 21+ show!

Long before Kevin Bacon launched his prolific stage and screen career, and before Michael Bacon became known as a go-to composer for film and television, they were just two brothers, born nine years apart, coming of age in Center City Philadelphia With 2009 marking 14 years of the Bacon Brothers band’s existence, any cynical preconceptions about well-known actors “dabbling” in music now can safely be discarded The band has gigged relentlessly to build up a following, and New Year’s Day represents their sixth LP release Having played with the same crew of musicians for all of the band’s existence, Michael and Kevin agree that the band has become just as much a part of the whole endeavor as the two frontmen While still encountering critics due to Kevin’s onscreen notoriety, the band continues to win believers—show by show, album by album As The New Yorker recently observed: “Hollywood hangs like an albatross around the neck of any movie star turned musician, but this duo shakes off the burden of fame with sharply executed rock that has a blue-collar, rootsy edge” Reserve your discounted parking in advance: http://wwwparkwhizcom/wilbur-theatre-parking/laz- parking-boston/?pwa=bf272332
